Despite the criticisms from President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies and supporters, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairperson Jose Luis "Chito" Gascon was politic in his description of them.
In an Ask Me Anything thread on Reddit, Gascon was asked to describe, in a few words, Duterte, Senators Manny Pacquiao and Tito Sotto, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, and Presidential Communications and Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux Uson.
Gascon said Duterte was "relentless," and Pacquiao was the "People's Champ."
He described Uson as "misunderstood," and called Sotto a "star for all seasons."
Alvarez, he simply described as "cute."
Alvarez had been particularly outspoken against Gascon and his agency, which he accused of not doing their jobs for criticizing the rising death toll from Duterte's drug war.
Before Alvarez attempted to slash the CHR's 2018 budget down to P1000, Duterte had threatened to outright abolish the rights body.
The president also suggested that Gascon was a child molester because of his concern over the killings of several youths.
