French student allegedly caught with drugs and cash in AirBNB

FRENCH national living in a Kings Cross AirBNB has been allegedly caught supplying large quantities of drugs in Sydney and transferring funds back to France.

Akram Dahmoul, 24, was in Australia on a student visa to study business when he was arrested by Kings Cross detectives allegedly in possession of cannabis, LSD, GHB and MDMA.

Police also seized $90,000 cash from a Kennards storage facility at Ultimo after they found a receipt allegedly in Dahmoul’s possession.

Dahmoul was charged with multiple offences including dealing with property proceeds of crime and supplying prohibited drugs.

During a short court appearance in Central Court Mr Dahmoul’s lawyer, Simon Joyner said his client would be applying for bail next week and requested an interpreter be present.

Police allege they had information which led them to an address in William Street, Darlinghurst where they witnessed Dahmoul and another male in the doorway, with the accused in possession of a brown duffel bag.

During a search police claim to have found a kilogram of cannabis in a plastic sealed bag.

After entering the premises, police found another 20 sealed 1kg packs of cannabis, a bottle of Bombay Sapphire which contained 600ml of liquid known as GHB and a Western Union receipt showing the transfer of $3087.87 to France.

The storage receipt prompted police to obtain a search warrant where they allegedly found a large stash of cash and MDMA tablets.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court next week.
