The low pressure area near Dagupan City, Pangasinan has intensified into a tropical depression, weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.
PAGASA named the 14th cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year as Nando.
As of 3 p.m., the center of Nando was estimated at 280 kilometers west northwest of Dagupan City.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 60 kph.
It is forecast to move west northwest at a speed of 24 kph.
PAGASA said scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected in Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Mindoro and Palawan due to Nando.
The weather bureau had warned of possible landslides and flash floods in these areas
