Soldiers return home from Middle East

HURON, S.D. (KSFY) - A very happy welcome home ceremony was held in Huron Saturday as 165 soldiers with the 153rd Engineer Battalion returned to South Dakota after a 10-month deployment.

The Army National Guard soldiers based out of Huron and Parkston served in the Middle East for 10 months providing command and control of engineer units and maintenance support.

This is the second mobilization for the 153rd, who also served overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2005.

Hundreds of community members, all of South Dakota congressional leaders, and Lieutenant Governor Matt Michaels were at Saturday's ceremony in Huron to help welcome these soldiers home.

Thank you for all your service and welcome home!
