The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will make modifications as President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections this coming October 23 to May next year.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Comelec said: “Adjustments will be made to the COMELEC’s current preparations, taking the new date of elections into consideration, and continuing on going activities for the 2019 exercise.”
The Comelec also advised all deputized agencies and election partners “to immediately begin ramping down their election related activities and await more detailed instructions, directives, and guidelines from the Commission on how to move forward.”
Signed by Mr. Duterte on October 2, Republic Act 10952 effectively cancelled this year’s Barangay and SK elections and set it on the second Monday of May 2018.
