Five police officers injured after terror attack in Bahrain

A terror attack in Bahrain has left five police officers injured, the interior ministry has said.

At the time of the explosion last night (October 2) the officers had been working at the Ashoora procession, an Islamic event, near the capital Manama.

Following the attack the ministry announced on Twitter that "the necessary steps are being taken," according to Gulf News.

The incident has been condemned by Saudi Arabia, which announced its support for Bahrain against terrorism.

Local reports claim Saudi interior minister Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz has spoken to Bahrain's interior minister Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa about the matter.

Aziz reportedly said there will be "full cooperation between the security services in the two countries, based on their cohesion and their common destiny."

Kuwait has also also spoken out following the attack with "strong condemnation," saying it will support Bahrain.

The attack has also been condemned by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, which says it stands in solidarity with Bahrain.
