Almost P5 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from the home of Maasim, Sarangani Mayor Aniceto Lopez, Radyo Inquirer reported Friday.
Quoting PDEA Region 12 Director Gil Castro, the report said that the raiding team found one kilogram of “shabu” (crystal meth). They also seized drug paraphernalia, suspected ecstasy, laboratory equipment, assorted firearms, explosives and ammunition.
The operatives also found a list of other drug personalities.
The report said that Lopez is believed to be a protector of Ansar Al-Khalifa Philippines (AKP), led by slain terrorist Mohammad Jaafar Maguid alias Tokboy, who was responsible for a series of bombings.
Lopez was not in his home at the time of the raid.
Castro said the mayor has sent feelers that he would surrender to authorities after the operation.
